PSG Defeats Olympique de Marseille via Spot-Kicks to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

Trophy celebration scene

The Parisian club has now claimed the season-opening cup on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants needed a dramatic leveler followed by a perfect penalty shootout to get past their arch-rivals in Kuwait and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable triumph in the showdown featuring the Ligue 1 winners and the French Cup winners after Ousmane Dembele found the scoring early on.

However, the southern French side fired two times in the closing moments to seize a surprise lead. Initially, the English forward scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho unfortunately directed the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial leveler in the dying seconds to send the match into a deciding shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Chevalier then stood as the key figure, saving decisive attempts from Matt O'Riley and Traore.

In the shootout, Ramos, Vitinha, the full-back, and Desire Doue all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a 4-1 penalty win.

Now 14-time champions Paris Saint-Germain, who faced last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after achieving a league and cup double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the past 13 seasons.
