World Series Final Game Captures 51M Audience Members Across the US, Canada and Japan Regions.

The exciting extra-inning clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers defeat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 attracted a combined 51 million viewers in the US, Canadian, and Japan markets. MLB announced this is the most-watched World Series finale since the 1991 showdown between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable contest secured 27.33M viewers on Fox Sports networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 edition final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew over 29 million. This marks a sixteen percent increase over the previous finale featuring the Nationals and Houston Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 placed 4th, Game 4 ranked 7th, the fifth game came in 8th, and Game 3 landed in 13th position.

Global Viewership Numbers

In the Canadian market, the game recorded over 11 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English-language broadcast in the country since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the final game began at 9 p.m. local time, it drew 12 million. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – in which World Series Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – drew 13.1 million viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Series Averages and Trends

The entire seven-match series drew 15.71M audience members on Fox, a 2% increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees series. This marks the initial instance after 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen viewership increases for two consecutive years.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the complete US viewership reached over 16 million. The total Fall Classic average in the Japanese market was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09 million viewers, an eight percent increase compared to the previous year and Fox’s strongest postseason performance since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball announced that the World Series was televised in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen various tongues.
